Vision

Working at the intersection of government policy and the free market, the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom is a world-class, independent, non-partisan think tank that aims to inform, influence, and inspire current and future leaders to develop and implement innovative, meaningful, and effective policies to advance economic and individual freedom and human prosperity.

Mission

Established by the Legislature and Governor of Florida in 2020, the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom harnesses the power of rigorous research, excellence in education and mentorship, and effective public outreach to offer a better understanding of the free enterprise system and its impact on individual freedom and human prosperity around the world, with a special emphasis on the United States and Latin America and the Caribbean.  Through its activities and programs, the Center hopes to inspire and enlighten policy discussions, analysis, and decision-making.  The Center has four main goals:

  • PROMOTE EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AND MENTORSHIP. The Center offers and promotes exceptional, multidisciplinary programs of study on a variety of topics related to public policy, the free enterprise system, and the advancement of economic and individual freedom and human prosperity.  It also offers fellowship and mentoring opportunities to students engaged in the study of these topics.
  • ADVANCE RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP. The Center conducts and disseminates objective, cutting-edge research on the effects of political and economic systems and government policies, among other topics, on economic and individual freedom and human prosperity.
  • ENGAGE IN OUTREACH. The Center hosts and sponsors workshops, seminars, conferences, and other public events that allow participants to take part in civil discussions and policy debates that promote a politics and society based on mutual respect and understanding.
  • IMPROVE PUBLIC POLICY. The Center provides a platform where decision-makers can find the information and analysis they need to better understand complex problems and solutions and make more informed policy.
