Ava Rossana Guevara
Former Vice President of the Republic of Honduras
Her Excellency Ava Rossana Guevara is a Honduran former politician, diplomat, and journalist. She served as Vice President of the Republic of Honduras from 2014 to 2018. She also served as the first Ambassador of Honduras in Italy (2010 -2011) and in Brazil (2011- 2012).
Before she graduated as a journalist from the National Autonomous University of Honduras, she worked at La Tribuna Newspaper. She then entered the world of international journalism and worked at ABC News, NBC News, and Univision. She was also news Director, Producer, and Anchor of several television media outlets in Honduras, where she known as a loyal and firm defender of the rights of the silent Honduran majorities and the indigenous and Afro-descendant groups, as well as for her constant criticism of corruption and impunity in her country. She was recognized in 2007 with the highest award in National Journalism in Honduras and with UNICEF’s National Press Awards (1991 and 1993).
Her greatest desire is the transformation of Honduras so that all citizens can enjoy social justice, equity, peace, true democracy, and freedom.
