Carlos Trujillo

U.S. Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States

Carlos Trujillo is the former Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), appointed by President Donald J. Trump in 2017.

Trujillo led the Mission of OAS, the oldest regional international organization in the world, and held the Chair of the Permanent Council, Budget Committee, and Economic Development Committee.

Before his appointment at the OAS, Carlos was appointed by President Trump to serve as a Representative of the United States to the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations. In 2020, he was nominated by President Trump to serve as the Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere at the U.S. Department of State.

Prior to his work in Washington, Trujillo was elected as State Representative to the 105th District in the Florida House of Representatives. Additionally, he was a founding partner of Trujillo, Vargas, Gonzalez, and Hevia LLP and worked as an assistant state attorney in Florida’s 11th Judicial District.

Carlos is also the President of Continental Strategy, as well as founder and President of Demand Democracy Now. He is also an active member and manager of multiple real-estate holding companies in Coral Gables, Florida. He previously served as a Board Member of the Public Health Trust of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, from 2015 to 2016 and was a member of the Electoral College in 2016.

Carlos earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida.
