Diana Alarcón
Mexico’s representative to the World Bank
Diana Alarcón was responsible for the agenda on foreign policy during the presidential campaign of Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico (2023-2024). From 2018-2023, Diana Alarcon was chief advisor and international affairs coordinator when President Claudia Sheinbaum was Mexico City Mayor (2018-2023).
Alarcón worked at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs in New York for 10 years. In the United Nations Secretariat, she played a leading role in preparing analytical contributions to the intergovernmental processes that defined the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She worked another 10 years at the Inter-American Development Bank, as well as in the United Nations Development Program and the International Labor Organization. Alarcón began her professional career as an academic at several universities in Mexico and the United States.
Alarcón has a PhD in economics from the University of California, Riverside.
