Francis X. Suarez has more than 13 years of experience in real estate and corporate finance, advising clients on acquisitions, financing, sales, and joint ventures. He has also served as outside general counsel to multiple companies and currently practices at Quinn Emanuel, where he counsels clients on a wide variety of business disputes.
Suarez is the former Mayor of the City of Miami, serving from 2018 to 2025. During his tenure, he focused on improving residents’ quality of life by prioritizing transportation and connectivity, fostering the city’s emergence as a global technology hub, and expanding economic and international opportunities, particularly with Latin America. He was elected President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors for the 2022–2023 term and previously served as Second Vice President. He also held leadership roles as vice-chair of the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization and president of the Miami-Dade County League of Cities. Before becoming mayor, Suarez served as the City of Miami’s District 4 Commissioner, working to elevate the standards of the city in which he was born and raised.
His leadership has earned national recognition, including being named #20 on Fortune Magazine’s “World’s 50 Greatest Leaders” list in 2021. He was featured as a “Leader” on the TIME 100 Next List in 2019 and honored as Elected Official of the Year by the Latin Builders Association in 2017.
