Vision

Working at the intersection of government policy and the free market, the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom will serve as a world-class, independent, non-partisan think tank that aims to inform, influence, and inspire current and future leaders to develop and implement innovative, meaningful, and effective policies to advance individual freedom and human prosperity.

Mission

Established by the Legislature and Governor of Florida in 2020, the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom will harness the power of rigorous research to offer a better understanding of the free enterprise system and its impact on individual freedom and human prosperity around the world, with a special emphasis on the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Through its activities and programs, the Center hopes to inspire and enlighten policy discussions, analysis, and decision-making. The Center has four main goals:

• ADVANCE RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP. The Center will conduct and disseminate objective, independent research on the effects of political and economic systems, government policies, and free market economies on individual freedom and human prosperity.
• PROMOTE EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION. The Center will offer, coordinate, and promote exceptional, multidisciplinary programs of study on a variety of topics related to public policy and the free enterprise system. It also will offer fellowship and mentoring opportunities to students engaged in the study of these topics.
• ENGAGE IN OUTREACH. The Center will host workshops, seminars, conferences, and other public events to allow students, scholars, business leaders, policymakers, and other members of the community to take part in civil discussions and policy debates about democracy, capitalism, and a politics and society based on mutual respect.
• IMPROVE PUBLIC POLICY. The Center will provide a platform where decision-makers can find the information and analysis they need to better understand complex problems and solutions and make more informed policy.
